What is EFT?

EFT was developed by Gary Craig in the early 90’s. Gary started very early in his life to research self-improvement and personal development methods. At the end he turned his professional activities solely on that direction, presenting seminars and offering “personal performance coaching”. While trying to educate himself and continuously searching for better methods and techniques for personal development, he got trained (back in 1991) in Dr. Roger Callahan’s Thought Field Therapy or TFT. TFT was to become the father of EFT and also of numerous other methods in the field that we call today “energy psychology”.

EFT often referred to as “psychological acupressure”.  The technique works by releasing blockages within the energy system which are the source of emotional intensity and discomfort.

What is involved in the treatment?

EFT discovery statement is  “Our negative emotions are caused by a disruption in the body’s energy system”.

EFT works on the blockages in our energy system in order to help smooth energy flow. Those blockages not only challenge us emotionally, but also often lead us to exhibiting disturbing behaviours. They may prevent us to live life harmoniously.

Resulting symptoms of the blockages are  :

  • Emotional disharmony
  • Physical pain
  • Lack of confidence
  • Lack of self esteem
  • Feeling stuck anxious or depressed
  • The emergence of compulsive and addictive behaviour

EFT works to clear such disruptions and eliminate the resulting emotional response or intensity to restore emotional harmony and offer relief from physical discomfort.

An EFT treatment involves the use of fingertips to tap on the end points of energy meridians that are situated just beneath the surface of the skin. The treatment is non-invasive and works on the ethos of making change as simple and as pain free as possible.

This is done by focusing on the specific problem whilst tapping with fingers on the end points of energy meridians. The combination of sending kinetic energy to our energy system, whilst uncovering and focusing on root causes, facilitates a “straightening out" of the energy system thereby eliminating the “short circuit" to the body’s learn response or negative emotion.
