YOUR MANTRA :“ Even though I am afraid of dogs, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”

Fear of dogs is so common. I know quite a few people who are struggling when they see a dog never mind being in the same room with a dog. There are so many reasons, but each is unique. Here I would like to give you some tips about how you can overcome your dog fear.

In life everything you do does matter. Your social life, spiritual life, working life matters. Your attitude towards life really matters! Happy people lives 7 – 10 years more than unhappy people. Optimists gets 77% less likely get heart problems than pessimists. How does it happen? How brain works to do this to the body? What I found out is the brain communicates with all the cells in the body, via hormones and neurotransmitters. So for example if you have negative thought, belief or feeling in the brain, you brain triggers this as a Threat ! Something is wrong. Than the brain turns on hypothalamus ( it is a bit like a command centre), it communicates with your adrenalin gland, adrenaline gland starts spitting out stress hormones, turns on stress response, triggers sympathetic nervous system, puts you in that flight or fight mode which is adaptive, it is protective. However in everyday life you are supposed to have quick stress response when there is threat and switch off, but this is not what happens in our lives I am afraid. We have 50% stress response in a day. You may just start thinking “How can possibly start to change the balance in my own body.”

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) can help you to relax, to heal your mind, your body. It increases the relaxing responses in the body.

When EFT is used, tapping on acupuncture points on the upper body, it turns off the stress response, and turns on the parasympathetic system. As a result healing hormones fill every single cell in the body. This is the natural self repair mechanism is available to all of us. It can only be on when the nervous system is relaxed. When you are having stress responses, all those natural self repair mechanisms get turned off. The body is too busy to fight and flee in order to heal itself.

I will explain how it works and what to do while dealing with this particular issue. I will also give after care advice in order to hep you further.

As a start with let’s find out the cause of your Fear of Dogs. Write it down in your own words :

Now the first step has been completed : Identify the Issue

Second step is to establish a before level of the issue’s intensity by assigning a number to it on a 0-10 scale where 10 is the worst the issue has ever been and 0 is no problem. Put a circle around the number you chose.

Third step is Set up :
1) acknowledge the problem 2) accept yourself in spite of it

Whatever the reason the Mantra will be the same for all:

“ Even though I am afraid of dogs, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”

The language that is used during the treatment aims at negative language.The reason it is the negative that creates the energy disruptions that The EFT Tapping basic recipe clears and brings peace to the system.

Fourth step is the Sequence:
This is when we start tapping on the upper body that stimulates/balances the body’s

energy pathways.

To perform it, you tap each of the points shown below and repeat the Reminder Phrase It will keep your system tuned into the issue.
Reminder Phrase: Examples for this fear :

“ I was bitten by a dog“
“ I was attacked by the dog”
“ I had to go to hospital”

Start tapping 3 times at each point :

Top of the Head – Crown chakra
Side of each Eye – use both hands

Under each Eye – each eye – use both hands Under the Nose

Chin Point

Beginning of the Collarbone

Under the Arm ( Usually opposite side of your dominant hand)

Than start again from top of the head, keep repeating 5 mins.
Finish each cycle with the Mantra begins with “Even though I ……..” ( Written above).

Fifth step : Time to re-check to find out where you are on the scale. 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1

AFTERCARE :

*Make list of the dogs that you could pet without being afraid.
*Take action. Could be your neighbours dog, or a dog of your choice. Take photos of the dogs you had contact with. Talk about your feelings.

* Spend time with a dog if possible.

*Cut out pictures of dogs from magazines, make a scrapbook of dog pictures, and tap for the fear as you held the pictures.
